Located along Tokyo Way, the area is considered affluent, with construction and developing businesses.

Project description

Background

Landworx Zambia Limited was engaged by a private homeowner in Chalala, Shantumbu to design and execute a comprehensive landscaping project for a newly built residential family house. The client desired a modern, functional, and low-maintenance outdoor environment that would complement the new home’s architecture and provide an inviting atmosphere for family living.

The main goal was to transform the bare surroundings into a green, organized, and relaxing space while integrating both aesthetic and practical elements suited to Lusaka’s semi-arid climate.

Scope of Works

  1. Site Assessment & Design Planning
    • Conducted a full site survey to assess soil quality, drainage, and existing terrain.
    • Developed a custom landscape design plan outlining lawn zones, flower beds, walkways, and shaded relaxation areas.
    • Selected plant species suited for local conditions and the client’s desired visual appeal.
  1. Ground Preparation
    • Cleared construction debris and leveled uneven ground.
    • Imported topsoil and compost mixtures to enhance fertility and grass growth.
    • Installed a basic drainage system to prevent water pooling during rainy seasons.
  1. Soft Landscaping
    • Supplied and planted lawn grass (Buffalo and Kikuyu varieties) for durability and easy maintenance.
    • Established flower beds and ornamental shrubs around the perimeter and entrance areas.
    • Introduced shade trees and small fruit trees to enhance comfort and utility.
  2. Hard Landscaping
    • Constructed paved pathways for movement around the house and garden.
    • Installed garden edging and stone borders for aesthetic definition.
    • Designed and set up a small sitting area/patio for family relaxation.
  3. Finishing & Maintenance Plan
    • Applied mulch and gravel to selected areas for weed control and moisture retention.
    • Implemented a basic irrigation system for efficient watering.
    • Provided the client with a maintenance schedule for ongoing care.

  • Transformed a bare construction site into a vibrant, green, and welcoming outdoor space.
