Located along Tokyo Way, the area is considered affluent, with construction and developing businesses.

Upscale Residential Area:Chalala is characterized by its large and beautiful houses, often symbolizing wealth, and a significant amount of construction and greenery.
Modern Infrastructure: The area is developing rapidly, with businesses and shopping complexes like Chalala Mall providing a range of services, including supermarkets, pharmacies, cafes, and telecom shops.
Education: Chalala hosts various schools, such as Wisdom Woods School, Little Rock Academy, and institutions like the Apex Medical University.

Project description

Background

Landworx Zambia Limited was contracted by a private client in Chalala, Shantumbu to design and implement a paving solution for their family residential home. The client required a durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing pavement to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the property. The paved area was to serve as a driveway, parking space, and outdoor utility zone while ensuring neat landscaping and reduced dust levels around the home.

Scope of Works

Site Preparation:

  • Cleared the designated paving area of vegetation, debris, and loose soil
  • Conducted ground leveling to ensure a uniform surface; excavated to the required depth for sub-base installation;
  • Laid and compacted a laterite/gravel sub-base for stability and load-bearing capacity
  • Applied quarry dust and compacted with a mechanical roller to achieve a solid foundation.
  • Supplied and installed high-quality concrete paving blocks.
  • Designed a functional layout for vehicle access and household movement.
  • Installededging and borders to prevent block displacement.
  • Jointing sand applied and vibratory compaction carried out for a smooth finish.
  • Site cleaned and inspected with the client for quality assurance.

Outcomes

  • Delivered a strong and durable paved surface capable of supporting both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
  • Improved aesthetic appeal of the property, enhancing its overall value.
  • Reduced dust, mud, and soil erosion around the home.
